I supervise a group of people at the Open University, as listed below. If you would like to work with us, please contact me at marc.pradas(at)open.ac.uk

Jenny Allcock

PhD Student (2023-

Andrew Wilkinson

Jenny works on the modelling of droplets on cylindrical geometries. She uses long-wave theory and matched asymptotics to derive low-dimensional models for the motion of droplets on heterogeneous fibers.

PhD Student (2023-

Greg Holba

Andy works on low-Reynolds number flows and applications of lubrication theory. A part of  this project has focused on quantifying the settling motion of solid objects in a viscous liquid. This project is done in collaboration with Prof Michael Wilkinson (OU).

PhD Student (2022-

Nick Creasy

Greg uses lubrication models to study the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the perivascular spaces of the human brain. This project is done in collaboration with Dr Jim Hague (School of Physical Sciences, OU) and Prof Nigel Hoggard (School of Medicine and Population Health, University of Sheffield).

greg.holba(at)open.ac.uk

PhD Student (2022-

Nick studies the interaction between liquid droplets and soft solid materials with the aim to establish relevant mechanisms that can trigger lateral motion.

Abolfazl Hezaveh

PhD Student (2022-

Abolfazl uses CFD methods to study and quantify the motion of droplets evaporating on hot surfaces. This project is done in collaboration with Dr Richard Moat (School of Engineering and Innovation, OU).

Dr Alex Round

PhD Student (2018- 2022)

Alex  worked on the modelling of falling liquid films and the interactions between solitary waves that arise on the free surface. He uses time-dependent computations of low-dimensional models alongside spectral and bifurcation analysis.

Dr Matthew Haynes

Research Associate (2018-2021)

Matt worked on asymptotic and numerical solutions of interfacial flows and their stability, including droplets on complex geometries.  He is currently a Lecturer at Bader International Study Centre (Queen's University - Canada).

Dr Michael Ewetola

PhD Student (2017-2021)

Michael worked on the computational modelling of sessile droplets with dynamic size by solving the Navier-Stokes and Cahn-Hilliard system of equations. He also uses bifurcation theory and asymptotic analysis to study equilibrium configurations. He is currently a research associate at UCL.

In addition, much of my research work is done in collaboration with other people:
